Music Submission

Thank you for wanting to partner with Hillbilly Studio Records as a Publisher of your music.

Read this before going any further

The reason for a specific way to submit songs is very simple, I need to be able to verify that you own the song. Links do not give me the ability to verify ownership to songs submitted. There is coding embedded in Mp3 and WAV files showing ownership and more. I WILL NOT steal your song to use it for myself. But I also must ensure that the song is yours to publish for money and submitting the right file type is a MUST! To learn about copyrights, click here.

The instructions as to how to submit music below are very clear and simple. Please make sure that you take a minute and read them. I understand that some people are not very computer literate, so if you need help as to how to get the right file types together to submit, no problem, just click on the Music Submission link and include your name, phone number and and say you need help. Someone will get back with and work you though the process on getting the right file types to send.

What to submit to start the process for consideration

If your song(s) are put to music, either live or AI generated, you must submitted either an Mp4 or WAV file attached to your email submission with a brief description of the song(s). DO NOT send only YouTube, SUNO, X, Facebook, Instagram or other links. Your email will be ignored if there is not either an Mp3 or WAVE file of the song(s) attached to it.

Why must I send a Mp3 or WAV file?

That’s a very good question. The reason is simple but may not be obvious. Embedded in those types of files is information about the file source. When it was created, who created it, ISRC number may be there, BMI or ASCAP number, notes and other things. All these things can tell me who owns the song. For EVERY submission I do my due diligence to make sure the song is owned by the person submitting it. It’s not a matter of trust, it a matter of protecting all songs submitted are owned by that person. If someone other than you submitted one of your songs you would expect me to notify you that happened so it can be addressed properly.

Quality of Mp3 or WAV File

The better the quality the better information I have to make a decision as to if the Hillbilly Studio Records wants to work with you. Now the song does not have to be Radio Ready, that would be nice but not expected, it does though, have to be a clear recording. That means that every part can be heard clearly. Vocals and any instruments. Many phones today have a great recording app on them and music recorded on them is just fine to send. Some live performances are recorded well but a lot are not. Too much background noise or the person recording it is too far away to get a decent recording.

What if I haven’t put my Lyrics to music yet?

If your song(s) have not been put to music, no problem, then you must send the lyrics to the song(s) as a Microsoft Word .docx attached to the submission email with a brief description of the song(s). Photos taken with your phone of the lyrics written on anything will be ignored.

Now your ready to send off your request for consideration, what happens next?

Next you click on the button below and it will take you to your email and off you send it. Once I receive your request I will review it. It can take up to 7 days for me to get back with you with a decision. Why? Because The Hillbilly Studio is not just about publishing, it’s also a recording, rehearsal and music production studio so there are other great things going on in the studio. If you have any questions about publishing or any other services that The Hillbilly Studio offers give me a call.
